The gap we're filling

You got a card. Then what?

Here's the strange part of legal cannabis: a clinician signs off, you walk into a dispensary — and from there you're mostly on your own. A budtender, a wall of products, milligrams that range across two orders of magnitude, and almost no one connecting the dose on the label to what it'll actually feel like.

I've watched patients who never imagined trying cannabis navigate that gap with no map. They deserve better than guesswork.

So this is a map for you, if it helps. Real science where it exists, honest flags where it doesn't, and tools that turn "uh, how much do I take?" into a number you understand.

The toolkit

Tools, not opinions.

Each one is free, built on the best available evidence, and clear about its own limits.

The Dose Lab

Answer a few quick questions, pick how you're taking it — edible, joint, vape, dab and more — and get an evidence-based starting dose with a live timeline of onset, peak, and comedown. Log how each session actually felt and the lab quietly learns your response, tightening its guidance to you over time. Everything stays on your device. Built to make "start low, go slow" something you can actually see.

What you'll find here

Some free information from your friendly neighborhood psychiatrist.

01

Real science

Grounded in peer-reviewed evidence, cited plainly — and never dressed up as more certain than it is.

02

Actually practical

Doses, timing, formats, and what it feels like. The stuff the label leaves out.

03

Honest about unknowns

This field is young. We flag what we don't know yet instead of papering over it.

04

Citizen science honored

Lived experience matters here too. Patients and growers know things the studies haven't caught up to.

DOCTORWEED·ORG
Hi there,

welcome to doctorweed.org. I'm Doctor Reid :)

This site is an independent cannabis education project created with one simple goal: help people make better decisions about cannabis.

As cannabis becomes more and more available across the USA, I believe it deserves the same thing we want from any medicine, supplement, or psychoactive substance: honest information, real-world experience, scientific curiosity, and a healthy respect for uncertainty.

You'll find evidence here. You'll find practical insights. You'll also find plenty of places where the science is still catching up. And that's okay (and part of the fun).

We're learning together.

Namaste,
